Essential Elements 2000: A Comprehensive String Method Book 1 - Violin

This is an outstanding instruction book, specifically for the violin, which teaches a beginning instrumentalist all of the basic skills necessary to play the instrument. The book features short songs and etudes, which are used to learn new notes, rhythms and styles, as well as to reinforce the previously-learned material. There are also several ensemble arrangement songs, in addition to a concert piece (with piano accompaniment included) and two like-instrument duets. Add all of this music to short lessons on music history and music theory, include a fingering chart, throw in a CD that provides accompaniments for lessons 1 - 71, and you have a book that is clearly the best in its class. We recommend this book (and the optional 2 CD set which accompanies lessons 72 to the end of the book) for all beginning instrumentalists, regardless of age.
