Italian baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi composed what many consider to be the finest example and arguably the most popular piece of baroque period music in the world. This "Opus 8, Nos. 1-4", better known as "The Four Seasons", features movements meant to depict the sights and sounds of the changing seasons. Each seasonal movement was accompanied by a sonnet that historians believe was penned by Vivaldi as well. Featured here is transcription of the "Summer" movement transcribed for solo violin with piano accompaniment that also includes the accompanying sonnet written in Italian. Listen for the lines in the melody that mimic the buzzing of the bees amongst a field of flowers. This is truly a masterful work.
